Vacuum lines and ev valve Secondary air system?
Is it possible to get behind the head to change the vacuum lines and get at the electronic valve. I have tried and tried and it appears to be impossible.

Did you remove the Cowl in front of the windshield to free up some space and gain access back there?
|
No. It doesn't look possible. I looked at the grilles etc., but they only look to go into the vents.
I did think about trying to remove the large plastic piece underneath the cowl. It looks like it has only 4 screws or small bolts holding it up. Is that the piece you mean? |
Yeah but those aren't the mounting points. It is only 2 14mm bolts IIRC. One removes the battery pos jump and the other is by the windshield washer fluid res. remove the rubber weather stripping and cabin filter. Remove the 2 side peices by pulling up and the middle assembly slides out.

Wow, thanks. Will check it out tomorrow.

13mm on mine.
one is behind the washer and the other near the + jumpstart connection Sent from my SGH-i917 using Board Express |
Well thanks guys. That gave me limited access, but I managed to change the hoses. Can't get the valve out, but I think that it is the culprit because vacuum works when I bypass it but no vacuum when using it.
Certainly an unbelievable awkward place to put this little valve if you ask me. If I could get it out I could test it but try as I might it won't budge. Off to the stealer tomorrow to get a new one and then just hang it back there if it works. |
More air valve questions. Are there more fuses for the system than the 10 amp and 50 amp fuse in the glove box?
I put in a new electric valve which I determined was the culprit, but now nothing comes on on cold start up. Wondering if I blew a fuse somewhere. Thanks |
OK last post. Took it for a short 10 minute drive, and waited 4 hours after shut down. This time everything worked.
