Relation between steering wheel fluid & sensor

Is there any relation between low steering wheel fluid & DSC "light on" bulb (4x4). I red something like this, but I was not convinced?

so, i think it safe to assume that you topped off the low level fluid but the light is still on, right? DSC light and operation is directly tied to the ABS module, the speed sensors (inside wheel hubs), the yaw sensor (under center console), the level sensors (back and/or front) and the steering angle sensor... the operation is more electronic, and secondary to it, mechanical...

I am not saying that the two are not related, I am saying that it is less likely...

It is general question my friend and it is not related to my "light on" case as there is a code stored regarding some sort of error in steering angle sensor. The error is mostly electrical not mechanical. And yes, the oil service place topped my steering fluid. I have alerted him to use the right type of fluid & he said don't worry this is the right one. I think he use the same fluid for all cars he services. When both brake & 4x4 lamps turns red, the brake oil level can be low. tc

Wait, what lights are on your car exactly?

Check your cars steering reservoir cap. If it states ATF or Pentosin. Pentosin is unique, and should not be mixed with ATF. My car for example, is Pentosin.

Steering angle sensor can be caused by it not being re calibrated after alignment. For example. If you reset the steering angle sensor, without the cars alignment being within spec, the error will come back. When I get my car aligned, the shops machine alignment rack computer, gets connected to the car, and it re calibrates my steering angle sensor. The machine that I make sure a shop has, is the Hunter machine.

Can you get us a list of error codes your car is showing? It would be preferable if your shop had the DIS/GT1 computer. That is a very good tool to diagnose and test components of an error code.

SlickGT1 . I have checked it says "ATF fluid only". The yellow (not red) light on my dash is the 4x4 light. My mechanic uses Autologic scanner. Didn't know The error code number, but he said "it is related to power not getting the steering angle sensor, it might be a fuse,a cut out wire or the sensor itself is faulty". He checked out and didn't find any misconnection and he assumes the sensor need replacement. I was not convinced because at least he could'nt reset the fault and secondly because the light comes right after he replaced the glass regulator and change some preferences via scanner related to km/miles conversion and alike minor thinks. recalibrating lock to lock didn't work.

Do you mean that if something like a power interruption made the light to come up, then it cannot be reset until you you align the wheels before? wheels were not aligned before

I hope the power interruption didn't cause this. It would seem strange, but these are electronically sensitive cars. I think it is just a coincidence that the light came on at the same time.

Maybe you do have to replace the steering angle sensor. I would just make sure its is truly faulty before spending $$$$.

I will check in a couple of days (maybe tomorrow) with an experienced shop & let you know the result. Thanks a lot
