DIY for City Lights?
I've been searching for a couple days and have found write-ups for other models: E30, E36, E39, E46, etc. but none for the E53... Just wondering if anyone has done it on the X before so I could pick their brain about the procedure.

city lights as in Angel Eyes? or, as in older, E30, E34 models, where they had a small light bulb under the high beam bulb?
|
or are you replacing parking light bulbs?
|
Do you mean Euro running lights? Can we not just connect to the ECU and turn them on?
|
Yeah the little bulbs in the high beam bowl... the running lights on older euro models.

BMW got away from the "smiley" (as in your E34 pic) in favor of the Angel Eyes that perform the same function, starting with facelifted E39 in 2000 models... Ov er time, the city light became more of a fashion statement, as more people bought the cars simply basd on the nice looks of the city lights, aka AE... since than, many car manufacturers started doing it...
Other than that, you are looking at the Daytime Running Lights... |
Those pics are of City Lights not DRLs.

ah good ol' euro city lights, I used to love my amber city lights with my E-code headlights on my 2000 Jetta.
Do our headlights even have a spot for a small city light? In my VW it was just a 194 5w wedge bulb. |
