Stock rim styles

Which rims were available on which model years/packages?

Dupersenior 12-18-2012 09:02 AM

Everything you ever wanted to know about E53 options packages:

motordavid 12-18-2012 09:05 AM

Here is a link with a chart showing E53 wheels, but no breakdown as to what wheels were standard/optional per year, which varied by sport/non-sport options.

Don't recall ever seeing a list of 'what wheels per year', esp with all the 3-4+ wheel options per model year...

BMW X5 (E53) wheels

racebmwm3 12-18-2012 11:36 AM

Thanks all.
Yea, I was looking for a "if you have a 2005 sport/premium model, you should have these wheels" kind of thing.

Also, is there a way to decode the vin to see what packages should be on the car?

Ricky Bobby 12-18-2012 11:40 AM

On your car, you should have style 131 with sport package on the 3.0:

This may be completely untrue, but I've heard you can call up a dealer and give them the VIN, and they'll give you the specs. Worth a try at least.

Qsilver7 12-18-2012 12:56 PM

You don't have to call a dealer...the link to online VIN decoders are given weekly on some BMW forum somewhere .

I'm not sure if the forum's software will allow this link...but if it does just enter last 7 digits of VIN, then correctly answer simple math equation, then press the search button (ignore the Russian...linked you to the English translation): *асˆи„€овка VIN BMW :: BMW :: Ÿе€в‹й ˜н‚е€не‚ жƒ€нал об ав‚омобиля… BMW :: ’с‘ о BMW, новос‚и, с‚а‚Œи, обз, „о‚о ‘œ’

BTW, I recommend saving the link to your favorites or bookmark it...comes in great for future reference for yourself or for sharing with other BMW owners/forum members looking for this info. :)

motordavid 12-18-2012 12:57 PM

Dupersenior,
Helluva list of pics and info on E53 options!
I was posting when you posted; my info was elementary compared to yours...
Thanks for that, I bookmarked it.

www.bmwvin.com does the same thing as the Russian site, just a US version, need last 7 of VIN and correctly answer captcha question

 That's the other URL I was thinking about...my personal issue with that great site is...my eye sight is getting so bad...I can't figure out what the funky code says most of the time. So I just gave up and use the Russian site because the math equation is easier for me. :D

Again I see both these sites posted on a weekly bases...but I confess I'm a BMW forum junkie. I'm on BimBrd, BimForum, BimFest, (e38/e39/e53 forums) & now Xoutpost daily. :wow:

Sweet. Thanks for those links.

Maybe it's me but how do you tell if you have a sport/premium model vs just a sport model? I have the seats and the wheels you posted, but I have a 17" spare wheel in the trunk that doesn't match the rest.

And does wood trim come with all models/packages? How do you tell which kind of wood you have?

Mine: http://www.bmwvin.com/?vin=LB09634

jgold47 12-18-2012 01:52 PM

I think its in the preparation code.

so

S438A

is your color, EDELHOLZAUSFUEHRUNG is that you have trim.

If you search for s438A (and it should reference in real OEm) I get poplar brown

BMW E60 5 Series 51166951130 Poplar Brown S438A Wood Top Around I Drive | eBay

like this. Is this what you have?

I looked at mine, and i have s437A, which is basically what I have in this link
BMW Teile-Katalog ETK Online BMW X5 3.0i - Technische Literatur - Musterseite Interieurleisten

as #1 (the light wood - although mine is lighter).

Your spare - who knows. If you bought used, its possible the spare was not included and the seller sourced the wrong one. I had that happen. I also just sold my e46 with 4 style 44's and one style 45 spare as I never tracked down a 5th style 44.

Yep, looks like it.

I think premium package was what included auto climate control and wood trim, along with xenon's and such.

Sport package you can tell you have if your window trim is gloss black instead of matte black.

As far as the spare, I don't think we get full size 18" spares, I have a 17" spare on my truck and I have sport and premium.
