selflevel susp inact, back really high!
I got the message selflevel susp inactivated and the bak of the car went straight up in the sky and wont gp down.
The compressor is pumping and pumping and will not let any air go out so it can put down the as. Now the last day the compressor just starts for 2 sec and then itīs off, but it will not release any air. What is wrong? I cant drive the car like this, it looks like hell and the rear suspension is hard like a rock. Please help!! |
Hi can you put your car info into the signature.

Lot of questions here.
Do you have rear air ride only or active ride height with air bags at all 4 corners. I'm thinking you have a ride height sensor gone bad, or a self level control module that took a dump. And if you keep driving the car with the pump constantly running I think you're going to need a new air compressor as well, those can only take so much abuse. |
The ride height sensor for the self level suspension is probably bad. Do you have a SES light? Any code or pending code?

If you don't have access to a GT1 or Autologic, you need to get your car to a mechanic who has one asap so they can read the faults. The air system is electronically controlled, so without a dealer level scan tool, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's bad. Once the at-fault component is replace, you'll need the computer to recalibrate the system.
If it's any more than a very short drive, I'd consider having it towed in. |
The car is a x5 4.4 with rear air ride only.
I will take it to the repair station as soon as they have time to take a look. But cant i realise the preasure somehow? I hope the compressor still is intact. |
Shall i take away the fuses for the compressor to make sure it dosent start untill this is fixed
|
Yup remove the fuses. You can also release the air by removing the air line from the bag.
Where is the level sensor for his car. Is it like the 4 corner people. |
Now the fuses in the trunk are away, the level sensor is on each side of the back.
The compressor and all cables / sensor are under the spare tyre. Itīs a blue cable for the passenger side and a red for the driver side that goes from the compressor. |
I think your control module took a dump if the level sensors are good, its between the trunk and rear cargo area on the rear air only models, luckily for you i think when you have rear air suspension only, the control module is like 100 bucks plus you have to calibrate the system.
if your control module takes a dump on us 4 corner air people, its more like 700. |
