Central lock and other functions don't work after a battery change

2005 x5 3.0

Windows, interior lights and wipers don't work either. Fuses are all fine. Any suggestions please?

Does it still start up? Check to see if the battery polarity is correct.

yes it starts and runs fine. one thing I forgot to mention is that after the battery was replaced, alarm went off then those functions stopped.
