Interior trim rubberized coating...Plastidip?

The steering wheel control bezel and hazard/doorlock button bezels on my car have seen better days. Anyone try Plastidip on these?

I would just get new OEM parts but the crappy coating would just peel off again. I hear Plastidip is lots tougher, but I dont know if it will match in color or look ghetto.

It would look good, just take your time cleaning it off and make nice even coats. I actually used plasti-dip on all handles, sunvisors, sunroof switch, and door handles on an older Volkswagen I used to own when I did a black headliner.

Plasti-dip is definitely tough and made to be touched, so I wouldnt worry about that. I would remove whatever you are planning on spraying from the car so that you dont overspray though.

Thanks Ricky! How close would you say is the appearance of properly applied Plastidip to the oem rubberized coating?

Ghetto

Might as well just buy new ones, they will look a whole lot nicer and if they have lasted for 8 years already, they will last another 8+ if you take care of them.

Its close, but its definitely a bit more textured as opposed to the BMW finish which is smoother. If I was doing it on the steering wheel I'd make sure I did both trim pieces, so you don't have different textures next to each other. Heres a tip, spray a piece of plastic with the plasti-dip and put them side by side to see how it looks.

Or just go at it with your pieces, you can peel off if you dont like it

Thanks everyone! Well, I will be getting some to black out the chrome on my kidney grills so will compare them then.

Still interested in anybody else's take or experience with these if you have them.

Here is a thread where someone gave it a try.

or you can always try the king of Plasti Dips opinion, pnoyako85!

As soon as you accidentally scratch it you'll have to redo it again.
