Fog lights fuse?
Hey Everyone,
I have searched and searched and come up empty. Does anyone know which fuse controls the fog lights? I can't see a specific fuse for the fog lights in either diagram (glove box or rear). I put a voltmeter to the connectort from the car to the fog light and there is no voltage, so I know it is not a function of the lights. If anyone could help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers and all the best for 2013! Rob |
the lights in the E53 do not have dedicated fuses - they are controlled by the LCM circuitry and do not require the fuses any longer... as per BMW...
What seesm to be an issue? |
Thanks for the reply. Our X5 was a victim if a hail storm this past summer and got a new hood and was fully repainted. When I got it back the fogs weren't working (they were before). So I figured it was a fuse. Based on what you said it sounds like something else is going on. Perhaps some harness wasn't connected properly when it was reassembled after paint?

what happens when you turn on the headlights and then turn on the fog lights? does the green light in the cluster light up? do you get any message on the cluster indicating defective front fog lights? you have high or low cluster?
|
OK, so I tried various combinations and nothing triggers the fog lights to turn on:
- park lights plus fogs - low beams plus fogs - high beams plus fogs The green indicator does come on the cluster every time I depress it. There was only ever once was a fog light error message, but it has only ever been that one time and it occured a period of time after I got the X back. Does that information narrow down things at all or not really? |
we probably should start from simple to more complex... have you tested the light bulbs? install good known light bulbs and lets test it again...
