Cluster help
I am able to recode the EEPROM , my question is do I reset the mileage to zero and let the LCM and EWS populate the correct mileage, or should I just set the mileage stored in the LCM and EWS? Thanks for your help
2001 4.4 x5 the Custer is out of a 4.6 liter. THank you |
newly programmed mileage MUST be within 200 miles (or kms, i don't remember) of the stored mileage in the LCM. otherwise you will have a tamper dot

The answer is within the Redundant Data Storage below. To get used components to work...they have to be as if they were new...that means certain components need to be ZEROED first...before it can take on the mileage.
I'm typing this before posting the Redundant info...so it's not in front of me to figure it out before typing...you'll have to read each of the six points...then determine from what the info says as to which component needs to be returned to zero in order for the mileage and other information to be taken on by the other component. :) |
Thank you very much, so wipe the EEPROM and then plug it the car and the LCM and EWS wil write the mileag...got it...next can anyone show me where the EEPROM leads are? I am trying to locate them on back of the cluster so I don't have to remove the needles. Thanks

You don't communicate directly with the EEPROM, you use cables and software that communicates over the BUS system to the various control modules:
