TV in Motion...Any Good???

Thinking of fitting a TVinMotion module to allow rear passengers to watch TV (via the factory OEM unit) on the move...my questions are:

1. Anyone done this?
2. How is the digital TV reception on the move?

I have a video in motion module and it works very nicely. I have the analog tuner, though, so I can't comment on the digital version.

Thanks UCrew! Good to know it works on the whole...

Now...any UK buddies out there with the TV unit that works while in motion?

Hi,

Thanks (adrian.b) for the reply about TV in Motion!

I thought all OEM TV Tuners in UK/Euro X5's were digital from 2003 onwards? I presume you can only view channels 1 to 5 then? What I'll be doing is adding the TVInMotion component to the factory TV/Sat unit...I presume this leaves me with whatever tuner the factory fitted.

Glad to hear that reception on the move is pretty good!

Cheers

I have digital TV it is great when parked up but on the move you loose the picture and sound. I dont really use it on the move to annoying when looses signal. Get yourself a DVD player! The TV is also in Mono so watching the Music channels is ok but not brilliant.

Well mine isnt. I get channels 1 to 5 and AV of course which is linked to the DVD player. I have looked on ebay for digital tuners but nothing has popped up yet. The only benefit with a NON digital system is that when driving, you can still watch tv even with bad reception. With digital, when you lose it, it all goes. I have seen an in car digital tuner which I could simply put in line with the UHF feed to the OEM tuner, I`d just need some kind of remote extender to change channels.

Got my Tv in motion module from TVonNav(I hear, some problems now ordering from them!)and it works perfectly, kind of an oem mod!
You also get to control your major TV functions with your steering wheel buttons.Really impressive. With regards to reception,I have the oem retrofit Tv kit and I am quite happy with the reception on the move. Its better on the motorway than it is around London, specially between high rise buildings and in tunnels, obviously!

Hi X5-UK
I have TV in motion in my X5, it's not digital.
I get mixed reception, in some towns it's fine if you are going slow
in others rubbish, just depends on how strong a signal, where you are,
how fast you are driving, and what you will accept as quality.
