Test drove 2005 x5 4.8is today
I test drove a 2005 x5 4.8is today. The handling and power were great. Those 20 inch wheels are huge. This one had 112,000 miles on it, which is more than I want. It was black sapphire cream beige.
I noticed that when we cranked the truck the back seemed to raise quite a bit. Does this indicate a leak in the air suspension system? I heard a buzzing sound for the first few minutes which I assume was the air compressor. |
facelifted iS is amazing indeed...
you can't be 100% sure about the leaking bags, unless the car is visibly drops the height right before your eyes, or does not raise up at all... a slow leak is detected in prolonged parking, usually overnight... that was a reason i asked the dealer NOT to start and move the car from the back lot before I showed up for my test drive... i wanted to see the oil, the stance before the car was wakened up... |
I was able to unlock the on board tests. I checked the voltage while driving and it was 14.1. It was cool to be able to do that.
Some warnings on the cluster said check brake lights and check side lights. The brake lights appeared to be working. Could they have replaced the lights and not reset the codes? |

I agree with X5SND about the taillights, I also had the taillight and sidelight warning,I tried to figure it out for a week, I got out at night to check all the lights,I noticed that one of the angel eye lights (the lights that surround the headlights) was out on the drivers side. I bought and installed 2 angel eye bulbs, after that the Check brake light and side light warning went away. It's just a suggestion but I would check them just in case.
