Oil Breather/separator?

Hey guys,

I've checked Ream OEM and it appears my August '05 build 3.0d has the newer 'Vortex' style breather/separator setup (as compared to the old style loo roll separator).

My question is, does the new style unit require service the same way the old loo roll type one does??

My car seems to blow a little more (quite a bit more actually) diesel smoke out the rear under heavy acceleration, than I am happy with and this has been pointed to as a possible culprit??

Anyone got any thoughts??

It's a diesel.. what do you expect :dunno:

I changed mine and didnt do a thing under heavy acceleration except blow the same amount out.. It doesnt have a particulate filter as the newer diesel do as such, so you will see more soot.

However, I only see mine at night in the car's headlights behind me. Is it only at night that you see it?

If could be you need to clean out your air pipes (after the Turbo), EGR valve and inlet manifold. I got mine cleaned and that did make a difference, but like i said, Heavy acceleration from Standstill does give out a huge soot cloud.

It has been stated also to cut down on the soot cloud, is to accelerate heavy numerous times to clean the system out.

I was told I wasnt driving it hard enough for it to "clean" itself out.
