Just installed Bimmian Illuminated E70 Shifter

Installation was fairly easy. The instructions are in English and basically all you do is connect plug A to plug G and plug C to plug E etc. etc. etc. Nothing too difficult. Be advised that you can potentially actually plug some of them in backwards. For instance, when the car was in park, the gear selector showed it was in Drive. All I had to do was reverse one plug and voila! properly working selector. Anyway, I think it looks nice especially against all the black in the interior. On to the pics:

Where did the wires comes from? Inside the shift boot? No splicing required?

TerminatorX5 01-21-2013 10:42 PM

i am confused now - on the other thread the "+" and "-" were in the 4.6 and 4.8iS pattern, the "-" at the top... on yours, it is in the 3.0 and 4.4 pattern...

do they have two different versions?

No splicing required, it's all plug and play. There are plugs on the underside of the shift bezel as well as a wiring loom that sits underneath the bezel. It's obvious once you get in there.

Went back and reread the website which states that the + and - are opposite for the E53. Oh well, it wasn't a deal breaker for me.

Looks very nice, I like it

Looks pretty good with the back interior. I'm not so sure that shifter could be pulled off with any of the wood trims though. That shifttronic inconsistency and non functional/moving buttons is a deal breaker for me though....the OCD in me would have a Hay day with the shifter saying one thing and the the surround the opposite! Is it just me or does it look to be higher than the factory shifter??
Nice job though, looks good in your truck!

looks nice!! is there anyway to get the boot to match the size of the bottom of the shifter? looks a bit out of place.

Super jealous of your black interior!!

For the + and - you can always switch the pin from the stock console to match the new shifter.

Which pin are you referring to? Wouldn't the + and - still be opposite on the shifter and console regardless of the motion?

Dark5yde 01-22-2013 01:23 PM

In this case you can swap the pins ,when you want to up shift and down shift( push forward for up shift and backward for down shift)
