Any solution of CCFL Angel eyes with PDC ?
I really would like to insall the CCFL angel eyes on my X5 speically after they made the 2 different ring size to match the low beam and the high beam .. but I've read from a lot of people that they face a lot of problem with the front Parking sensors that it's always beeping when the angel eyes is on ..
did anyone find a solution of this problem ? thanks for your help guys .. |
this is not a problem unless the PDC is accidentally unplugged when it is installed.
i'm pretty sure the CCFL does not interfere with the PDC |
Well acutally 've read it in a different places , I have a lot of freinds who has 540 and M5 and they upgraded to CCFL angel eyes ... when u remove the headlights even on the X5 , you don't need to remove the bumper and the sensors , and after installing the ccfl angel eyes ..everytime the angel eyes are on , whenever the pdc comes on it will start beeping from the front .. a lot of people were talking about this problem ...
thanks for your reply anyway drex |
does the M5 and 540 come with AEs stock///
i'll let you know in a few hours when I install mine. my last headlight is reassembling. step by step video instruction manual from x5world is coming soon... |
you were right -- my PDC is going nuts.... gonna find a fix for this... can't really relocate ballasts away from sensors..... :(
|
Man, I am glad mine were OEM with the 2005. Too many heartaches with retrofit!

as for PDC going nuts, it happened to me when i first got the AEs but the problem went away after a few weeks and now theyve worked fine.... :dunno:
|
lots of people were talking that there is something wrong in the CCFL angel eyes adapter ,
logically it doesn't have to affect the PDC , but for some how it does .. really strange .. I've seen it myself on my freind's M5 .. everytime he wants to park the car in the parking , he must switch off the lights other wise the PDC will keep beeping from the front side .. he've checked all the sensors in the garage ... when the light is off ..they work perfectly ... |
the ballast is interfering with the PDC.
I went with the predator chromiums... hold tight. A video step by step install guide (I filmed every step) is coming in the next few days; will be available here, as usual, an X5world exclusive! |
ps because of this, i triggered them with the fog lights, so i can shut it off to use the front PDC. I will be looking at the WDS and finding a better place to tap (I was in a hurry and didn't want to mess around any more yesterday)....
|
So drex, any updates?
Did you solve the problem? Quote:

Drex sent you a PM re: a better place to tap. You can have the DDEs go on with your park lights if you want.....:)

7 Attachment(s)
Here is a potential wire you can tap into to have your DDEs go on with your park lights.....DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! Be sure to test the wire before tapping into it....the color of the wire may vary from year to year.
The light control module is in the passenger footwell.....This wire controls the rear taillights that go on with the parking lights. Like OEM, the angel eyes will go on with the park lights. Credit: pics from Art X5. He gave me detailed instructions when I got his Angel Eyes. |
This is very odd, I wonder what the interference comes from. I have actually never heard of any cars with PDC issues and CCFL demon eyes.

want a video with sound?

im interested to find out cause i did an installation a week back and the guys having this problem..... very odd since the other 4 X5s i did didn't have this problem. its possible for the ballast to cause a problem maybe its like a cordless phone/microwave/wireless router those 3 devices near eachother mess things up. but if its the ballast why would it NOT cause a problem with NON Xs that have PDC?? |
Tried New ground points as per Nick at JLevi
As per Nick at JLevi, he asked me/installer to find a different tap point for the ground. Unfortunately it did not work, we tried like 5 or 6 points to connect the ground but it still did not work. I even disconnected the remote wire, it still did not work. I'm not sure what is going wrong here. :(
|
its the ballast interfering with the PDC's electromagnetic field.
i haven't had time to play with this but will do this weekend, and report back. not a great big problem, but annoying nonetheless! |
I thought about this, could very well be.
John, sent you an email with a couple of options. |
Have anyone found a solution for the PDC going nuts with the Angel eyes installation?:tsk:
|
The only think that I'm planning to try now is to connect the angel eyes to an external bettary and check it out and see if it's a wire or wrieless affect to the PDC ...
it's really bother me a lot .. it sounds like some of the guys has it and some of then has not .. so basically it sounds like it's manufactoring issues .. anyone knows who's the facoty of those CCFL angel eyes .. maybe they can double check their products one more time .. Cheers |
any updates on the issue with the PDC has been fixed?
|
I had it OEM
|
Hello together. Im from switzerland and im new here :-o) I installed also the CCFL- Angel Eyes and my PDC going also nuts. Could someone solve this problem?
|
Just got Predator Chromiums installed today and sure enough, PDC goes nuts!!
Drex or anyone ever figure this out? It sounds like the problem is specific to X5s, b/c the guys that installed mine primarily work on 3ers. |
3-series DO NOT have FRONT PDC. X5 has FRONT & REAR PDC. That is the difference.
E46 3-series only have REAR PDC. Quote:
