OBD Scanner........ help
So I bought something very similar to this 6 months ago......
USB-OBD-Diagnostic-cable-INPA-Ediabas-DIS-v57-SSS-v32 I haven't had any need to run diagnostics on the X as yet but feel that I will soon or indeed should anyway... I have an old laptop which I can do whatever to so can it be done? Anyone done it or should I lash out and get one of those $1500 from the UK premade plug and play units......... |
I brought a bluetooth scanner for under $20.00, and downloaded the App Torque for my Android phone. I can look at engine trouble codes and clear them, I am also able to view live data such as long term and short term fuel trim, engine coolant temperature, alternator voltage, engine rpm and almost any data that the DME sees. Best thing is that I keep the scanner in the car and if I get a CEL, or SES I can read the code right away without having to have a laptop.
Love the App so much that I brought the Pro version of Torque for my Android Tablet. Unless you are into re-coding the app Torque is more than enough to troubleshoot the X. |
Bulk, set up inpa and NCS expert. Those two are the essentials that require the least amount of resources from a laptop. I have those two progs running on a Mobile notebook I had laying around.
You really can't beat the ability to reset airbag light, find out when your car hit undervoltage, and everything else these cars store in memory. Oh, and once you get inpa to work, NCS expert is absolute cake. |

Ok dude, you just hit my tickler file for springtime ops. I've been running INPA for a long time, and didn't need anything else so didn't venture any further. You'll hear from me if I have any questions on having me some cake. :D |

I've read that massive assed post on INPA from Bimmer Forums to no avail. I'm not going to request any INPA setup pages as I don't want someone jumping in saying "Use the search function":nanana: but if you happen to want to volunteer a particular page that you used to get it working then I won't complain :).
Slick you've got me excited, I setup INPA once before but it can't connect to the X so I'll give it another go........ Maybe Youtube can help me Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Andrew |
I used these 2 threads from bimmerforums to set up INPA and DISv44. The threads' starters are very helpful if you contact them. DavidMc is in Australia too. I hope these help.
How to install DIS w/ EasyDIS v44 step-by-step - Bimmerforums - The Ultimate BMW Forum DIS Success - Bimmerforums - The Ultimate BMW Forum Once you have everything running and plan on using NCSExpert, download NCSDummy from Revtor. It's very helpful when manupulating file. |

If you can get me an FTP site or something of yours where I can upload the videos for you, I can do that. It really was easier than you can imagine. |
Read below, found exact installation vids that the romanian guy uses.
|
OOPS, use these vids. These are the ones the Romanian guy supplies.
