04 3.0 starts hard and has no heat.
I looked around but didnt notice anything with the same issue. Just about every time I try to start my X, it will just turn over. If I hold the key, it wont start, just turn over. But if I stop, and try again, it will fire right up.
Its been a problem free car for years. Only had to do minor maint. on it. Water pump, CCV, thrust arm bushings, and tires. Lots and lots of tires. In my old e46, I would have thought intake cam sensor, but I would expect to get a cel at some point. This has been going on for months now and no codes. Another issue, that I doubt is related, is the heat sucks. At a setting of 90, its barley warm. I changed the water pump last spring. I know for sure that the heat worked after. Its only been the last week or so that it stopped. I havent been driving it much lately. And the only work I've done on it recently was some euro coding with NCS. I shut off the front parking lights and made the angel eyes parking lights instead. Almost all the changes I made were in the LKM or GM. Nothing to do with the HVAC. Any ideas? TIA |
Not sure on the no start issue...have you checked to see you have fuel pressure?
For your heat issue, sounds like the thermostat is stuck open and needs to be replaced. |
Are these thermo's electronically controlled like the v8's? Would it throw an error code that could be read with inpa or dis?
The no start issue isn't likely fuel related. Unless its bleeding off pressure when off. But if I just give it a quick turn to turn it over, and then shut off and retry, it will fire right up every time. |
There is a 2 pin connector on it, whether it "controls" it, I don't know. You could try reading it for codes but I dont know if there is anything to find? Changing the thermostat is an easy task, and will take care of your heat issue.

Ok. Ill have a look at it.
Thanks. |
you are in NH - so, there is that snow, that you are dealing with, right? how is your battery? holding up? if it is on the 3-year mark or beyond, it might be due for a new one...
the heater issue is a thermostat... if this is "electronically controlled" one, than you should be able to see if it is working or not... have you checked the engine temp while running, either with the INPA or using the cluster's "tests"? Also, you have mentioned that you "activated" the AEs as the parking lights - can you elaborate on this particular one, please? |

The ae's as parking lights was something I coded in ncs. I for get the line code for it though. If you have ncs for dummies, it will show you all the programmable options for a particular module. The ae's as parking lights required to changes. Shutting off parking lights, and turning on ece drl's. |
