I'm running Pirelli snow and ice tires in OE 20" sizes. They are a fine tire, even though mine are nearing the end of life. At the end of the day the rear tires are just too wide, you can feel the rear start to wander in slushy stuff.

Any toy I buy in the future will be a 4-stroke. End of discussion. I have had more trouble with these sleds, almost every year we struggle to get them started despite new plugs and gas. Going to start bringing them in every winter for tune-up.

Wasn't aware the CCV carried a two year warranty - good to know. Had mine replaced in Jan 2012 after another spectacular, smoky failure (my third in eight years). Dealer convinced me to go ahead with the heated wrap fix (at my expense, of course). No issues so far this season, thankfully. It's rare to walk out of a BMW Center without dropping some $$$.

The extended test drive in their latest models is novel and fun, but it's always great to get back in your own X running strong.

All parts installed at BMW dealers carry 2 year warranty (there is a mileage limit though)

I am also about to take mine in for it's first CCV. I, not sure if its disheartening or relieving to know I wasn't the only X5 people thought was on fire in MN this week! Anyone here from MN have any experience with Eurotech in New Brighton (or any other recommended Indy), or should I just keep getting gouged by the dealer?

I have experience with JB Eurotech. Seth treats me well. He is extremely knowledgeable on the E53. He said they got about 20 CCV jobs during that really cold snap.

Orr Autosport in EP isn't bad either.
