Left air suspension goes down...???

Hi all ,

This morning I noticed the left front suspension was down (2005 4.8is) . I just bought this X last week so I probably never noticed this before.

When I unlock the doors and get in , it goes back to normal. All 3 positions work great when manually activated , no warning sign in dash.

What can be the problem?

Thanks

I don't know about E53. On my E70 the dealer replaced the pneumatic shocks and took care of the issue. See following post.

Thx... I found a few more threads also.

This morning , after beeing parked for 12 hrs , Both front sides were levelled at normal position. Strange.

hmmm well that is weird, keep an eye on it though a tell tale sign of leaking bags is leaving the car parked and one or both is sagging when you go out to start her up

You will soon need a replacement on the air bag !! I just replaced mine on the weekend. Have Arnott's contact info ready !!

More than likely you have a leak in one or both air struts. If you don't replace them in time the air compressor will work overtime then you will have even more expenses.

Try to confirm that they are in fact leaking and replace asap.

Good luck!

How hard are they to change (DIY) and do I need special tools?

I had mine done by a shop and then I had to reset the default ride-height. Some didn't have to set/calibrate the ride-height, some did. Not sure why the differences.

There is a DIY around and not sure if you need special tools. I'm thinking not. Search and you should be able to find it.

I'll see if I can find it too.
