And I'm looking down the hole in the top of the motor and there is a thick gunky residue build up where the hose had been inserted in.

Okay, I got one of the hoses off. It seems to have some oil residue inside, but it is by no means pouring or even dripping out of the hose. But if I put my finger in it there is oil on my finger.

The corrugated hose traps oil - stand on end with paper towel and let sit for a while - the towel will become an oil rag and this is only the oil left with no vacuum.

It's hard to tell, but I don't know that it's corrugated. It could be though, I just can't see because it has a thick insulation wrapped around it. I'm letting it sit right side up, but I still don't see much oil coming out.

Not sure what's going on with your photos - it keeps sending me to a 3rd party (google bucket ??)

Sorry, I don't know how to share photos very well. Maybe this link will work better. Let me know.

This is the hose without the insulation; (mine was cracked under insulation)

My intake is black plastic, so it doesn't cook to the intake as the aluminum intakes do.

craigatkinson 09-29-2013 07:22 PM

Well there is oil residue in it, oil is not pouring out. It doesn't look like there is much oil in mine as there is yours, but there is that thick gunk in the last photo I sent you. So it this a problem, or is there supposed to be some oil in the hoses?

craigatkinson 09-29-2013 07:26 PM

I'm looking down that small hole, and it looks like I can see a pool of oil in there. Is there supposed to be oil in there?

In my opinion - and several other posters. There should be no oil going to your intake. In my 35 years as a mechanic - these BMWs are the only vehicles that some say it's acceptable - But these BMWs have a problem with oil consumption & smoke like no other - what do you think?
