I bought a set of black wheels for my E39 at a very good price. They look ok, but I decide to try the Silver Metalizer. I'm very happy with the result.
Some iPhone pictures, still need to peel off the plasti-dip from the tires.

Anyone had issues with the edges starting to lift?

nebilex 03-20-2013 07:40 PM

OP, where do you get this plasti dip color? Planning to do it to my vw wheels as well this summer. I have a silver color car, the matte black is not going to look that good

I somehow got a spot where the moisture get inside and lift up the PD coating. I have yet to deal with that. Worst case scenerio is to peel it off and re-do.

If your question is for me, I got it from an authorized dealer of "Dip Your Car" locally. You can buy it on dipyourcar.com
I paid $12 for a can of Silver Metalizer.

If I just re spray it the stuff melts itself and rebonds to the rim its nice. But My question is how to avoid this?

Should i be sanding down the curb rash?

For those that did the plasti dip, how are your wheels holding up? Are those better than the dupli color?

I would say not that great. If you rub anything at all against them it will rash. My edges are peeling from high speed/any kind of hose pressure... I will be powdercoating next time for sure.

For $20 I cannot complain but when it starts to look bad it looks SUPER GHETTO in my opinion...
