Door won't open from inside
My wife called to tell me that she drove the X this morning and went to get out and the handle would not open the door from the inside. The outside handle still worked but the inside handle felt loose.
I moved the X around in the driveway this morning as I had to take my daughters car today. It worked fine for me but I do remember there being a pop when I opened the handle. It did not register at the time as I was in a hurry but I assume something broke. It this the "door carrier" cable that I see all the post about and how hard is it to fix? Thanks, Shawn |
yes. But for the hell of it have someone on the inside press the Central Locking button while simultaneously opening the door from the inside; while, simultaneously, you open the door from the outside. Try this multiple times for a few minutes. Three to four minutes of this procedure can sometimes save you a few hours of opening the door up. It will seem like forever, but if the door handle finally catches after a minute or two it will be worth it. (I must have attempted about 75 times and my door finally caught, that was two years ago and no problems since)

If its the cable that attaches to the inside handle its not hard to fix but you'll have to take the door panel off to get to it.

The handle on the inside is completely loose and does not even stay in the closed position. I assumed there was some sort of cable that attaches to this but not sure the part #.
Any help on what the cable is called or part #? Also, any help to previous thread on removing door panel would be great but I can search for it as well. Thanks, Shawn |
I found the directions in a thread about a broken door lock. Sorry, I don't know the part # but once you have the panel off you will be able to see the cable and the black part that goes into the inside handle. It slides in and locks into place. Hopefully it didn't break and just needs to slide back in.

Thanks guys...I will get to work on it this weekend.

Had this problem and I worked on it yesterday. Turns out the part that holds the other end of the cable (#1 on the diagram ^) broke off. Looks to be a $200 part just for a broken clip. For now I glued it back and reinforced it with zip ties.

Had this also, cable ties is the best fix. Took around 30minutes, make sure you use a few cable ties as the force of opening the door may snap the tie.
