Sunroof repair
Sure, what else can brake on this car... everything. Yesterday I fixed the armrest latch... Not an easy job. I actually had to replace the armrest for a small little spring. I found it near to impossible to take everything apart in the armrest.
Today I discovered that the windshield washer pump leaks. A year ago or so I replaced the headlights pump. Now, the sunroof does to open in the venting position and I tried to follow some e39 DIY to replace the broken parts. I am stuck at the first step where I cannot remove the rain accordion protector. One DIY says that the only the bottom comes off easily while the top STAYS on the glass panel. The other DIY says exactly the opposite. I looked and I cannot figure out which side should I pull. This is on the non panoramic sunroof. Any tips on how to remove that? Glass Moonroof fix (with pics) Sunroof won't lift. Please help. http://home.comcast.net/~jimlev/SunroofRepairComp.pdf |
fmugur, I have a pano roof, but I'm sure the accordion parts are similar. they pressure fit (no screws/clasps) and its a joke to pull both the edges off. on bottom and top. I just did it this weekend. Its the easiest thing ever.

Sorry, I was vacationing in Huntington Beach, OC. Cold weather this week. The most we got was 66F (17C)... .
It's interesting that the accordion in pano sunroof is available as a pare part but not in the non panoramic version. I will try to find a way to pull it out although I am not sure which side to try the top or the bottom. It doesn't seem to come out easily though. |
