For those familiar with under the Engine Bay

While diagnosing a leak, I pulled the front splash plate off.
If looking underneath, where the HP power steering hose is, approximately in the middle of the hose is 2 thin black wires/black jacket housing running vertical. Anyone know what these wires are. I did not have time to trace it out - had to button her back up.

One of these - there is a small pinhole chafe on them.

I am familiar too, but not sure if we're looking at the same thing.

Wifey has the X - drown down to Family until Easter.
I might just Heatshrink it, but in touching it...the insulation/jacket on it was fairly loose on whatever was inside it.

I assume a V8?

If so, I would guess it to be the oil level sensor wires. They come from the Bank 1 box by your spark plugs / fuel injectors. The wire runs forward, down the dipstick tube, down to the bottom of the lower oil pan where it connects to the oil level sensor.

But, thats just a guess..

Creating a signature with your model/model year/build date...or adding that info where it appears on the upper right of all of your posts...really goes a long way to help us help you better when trying to answer questions.

We know immediately which engine, transmission, change in production, options etc that are installed when trying to answer questions or make suggestions.

Again, really consider making a permanent signature with your vehicles info (click the USER CP link at top of page)...it also helps others in the future that may be searching for info...they'll know if your situation/conclusion/mod/upgrade/etc applies to their model/model year/ etc. :)

Indeed it's a V8.

There was 2 of these wires in question. Heavy Gauge though. It felt like it was around 14AWG inside this black jacket. But the jacket/insulation was not *tight* on this wire.
