tire sizing help please!

ok so i got new rims 20x8.5 front and 20x9.5 rear.
i have a brand new vredsteine 315/35 that i dont want to not use.
will that fit on a 9.5, i hear some say it does and some say it doesnt.
then will the 275 fit the 8.5 if i get the all same tires all around?

Can NOT fit any tires on just the rim. Make sure to put them on the wheels.
Your tires are too wide for the wheels you got. They are the original size for 20x9.5" and 20x10.5" wheels.
They might fit, but many installer will refuse to put them on for liability.

:iagree: with TMV.

Did you run these tire sizes through a tire size calculator? There are many to choose from and are as simple to find as typing "tire size calculator" into a google or bing search box. :)

I believe the recommended wheel width for a 275/40 tire is 9"-11" & the recommended wheel width for 315/35 tire is10.5"-12.5". But again, do a google search for a tire calculator, or search for vredstein tires and look up the "specs" and you should see a recommended wheel width listed.

Good luck....and if you're into the "stretched" look...then again, be careful and you'll need to find someone who'll mount them for you.

This is the sizing tool I have always used and IMO it is the best on the web Tire Size Calc - RIMSnTIRES.com

Are these sizes correct and not a typo? If they are correct then ...

NO

NO. Widest you can go on 8.5" is 255.

you sure? cuz I ran 245's on a 8" wheel before and a 225 on a 6.5" it doesn't look the best but it does fit and stay on

I guess there are some 265s that will fit on 8.5" but I think it depends on mfgr. So, I should not have said a flat NO.

The aspect ratio might play into it as well as there are differences in mfgrs tolerances. Just like the 315 Vreds run slim compared to most other 315s from other brands.
