Odd Wheel and Tire Size Help
 

I have a 2005 X5 3.0.
I'm considering purchasing a set of wheels:
-18x8.5 front
-18x9.5 rear
I was told to mount 255-55's on the front, and 245-55's on the rear.
The problem is that no tire manufacturer supports both of these sizes in the same model tire.

Are there any other recommendations for tire sizes for these wheels?
Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Stock tire size is 255/55/18 so I wouldn't go smaller than that

If so what size tires are you running on them?

I dont think you will find many 18" staggered set ups because if you want to maintain stock diameter (29" or so), there are no combinations that have the same diameter front and rear (especially critical as the X is full time AWD).

Your tires guy tell you to go with 255 front and 245 rear? WTF is he smoking ? .... Lol

Unless you're really sold on these wheels...my suggestion would be to keep shopping. If you're going to stay with 18" wheels...then get a set of 4 that are all the same size. If you're going to go with a staggered set-up...then upsize to 19" or 20" wheels where you have more choices for a set of staggered tires.

When using staggered wheels...you also want to stay within 3% (+/-) overall circumference/diameter on axle-to-axle and/or side to side. Going over 3% (+/-) can screw-up the ABS/DSC/AWD calculations and systems.

Using a simple tire calculator site (1010tires.com)...I found two 18" staggered wheel/tire set-up within the 3% variance:

• 255/55/18 (fr) 265/50/18 (r) - Nitto NT55 tires (-2.10% diameter variance)
• 255/55/18 (fr) 275/55/18 (r) - Michelin Lattitude Touring tires (2.98% diameter variance)
