Pressing the snowflake button to lock out the compressor is so 1970s. It used to be that there was a reason to do it for improved mileage. Not so much today. The only AC compressor I ever failed was 27 years ago, after 6 months of not using it (I lived in the far north at the time). It failed upon startup the next spring. After that, I left every AC system on all year, and never had an AC problem again.
Now, about that signature line....
