Angel Eye upgrade

1 Attachment(s)
Hey All. Just received my headlight upgrade kit from HIDS Direct in the UK. Dale was very helpful, and I ordered the following:

1. H7 Canbus Pro HID 35W conversion kit
2. Mtec 12v 55w super white high beam bulbs
3. 10w cree smd led gen3 Angel eye markers

Fitted the angel eyes on sunday. Love the result :D Will fit the rest this coming weekend.

Looks sharp!
Be sure to code off the cold monitoring if you want them to last :)

In English?? :D The units came as plug an play, with no errors. What do I need to do?

Short version: Cold-monitoring is a series of quick consecutive electrical pulses sent out to each bulb upon startup (testing for burnt out bulbs)...it's been linked to shorting the life of LED angel eyes. A simple program like bmw scanner 1.4.0 (easiest for the casual user) can be had for a couple bucks and can do the necessary adjustments with simple check boxes. Just do a search for 'cold-monitoring' and you'll come up with plenty to read. :)

You could also find someone locally....most true bimmer enthusiasts will know what you're talking about.

x2 it makes no sense to put LED bulbs in those angel eyes without coding off the cold monitoring if you want them to last :)

Thanks guys - I'll get my local indy to sort out on Friday. She goes on for a service so will add that to the list.

Which value on the check list is the angel eyes?

yeah, I replace AE on my 535i so I need to recode; not sure if my BT tools will do it though. But again I these are H8 type 20W Cree bulbs (it's using 4 Cree XB-D leds in a bulb that put out 1200lumens total), so if they are blown I am sure someone is making H8 tpe with XP-T led chips at around $50 for a pair in a year or so (these one suppose to be 1800 lumens), so maybe more reason not to code the LCM module:nanana:

"Front left/right side light" under "cold check" will take care of the cold monitoring for the angel eyes.
