Thanks for the update on the sig and the post back of a resolution. Since there are multiple engines used in the E53...you've discovered why it's important to identify model/model year/build date etc...it helps the forum to help you better by suggesting things that are specific to your set-up...and prevents from making suggestions that don't apply.

It also helps others in the future when using the search feature...when they see which model/model year/build date...they can note if the thread/post/suggestion applies to their situation. :)

I tried to do this as a PM today and the hose on top of the tank with the metal tube will not come off. All of my hoses look exactly like the one I replaced when I did the alternator a few months ago (used like new) so I don't have a replacement for it. The one that is stuck is at the tank not the fitting on the hose that has 4 tributaries (the one I replaced) any hints for wriggling it off?

Thanks

You should see the top of a retainer clip on top of each tank hose near the fitting at the tank. Pull this retainer clip straight up with needle nose pliers. It will snap up allowing you to wiggle the hose off of the fitting. When reinstalling the hose on the tank fitting, press the clip down and it will lock in place.

Thanks, I got all the others off this way. That one would not come off.

ok; after the clip is up i would just wiggle it back and forth and maybe pry a little with a flat head screw driver. it is probably baked on the fitting.

Did all that. It easily comes off the other end. I'm ordering a new one so if I break it I have another.

Thanks

I have had that problem with similar connectors. The problem was that the connector was not fully released. Try pushing the lock back in place and then pull it back up and see if it will come apart then.

Thanks. I'm going to leave it alone until I have another hose.

Good plan.

Yup, it's a PM. I don't want to turn it into a repair.
