One of our German members is currently running a 6 speed in his 4.6is.

6 speed auto or manual?

6 speed manual from an M5, mated to the factory 4.6is transfer case.

The 6 speed auto, AFAIK, will not mate to the M62 motor. At least no-one has successfully done it.

I sent an email to IPT Performance Transmissions to see what they have to say. Their propaganda sounds good.

Now your starting to see the light! :thumbup: Just drive it tender and all will be ok. If you keep driving it hard, keep on looking for tranny shops.

Do you actually drive tenderly? That's not going to happen to me. I will drive tenderly when I am so old I can't renew my license---on the other hand, maybe not even then.

BC, are you doing fluid changes? If not, that's a sure way to blow it up!

Yes, I have changed fluid twice. First time was at 60,000 and second was at 100,00.

Ya, I'm on top of my fluid changes too. Color is always red, to dull red.... Just soft disc and band debris.

Ya, I do drive tenderly Mr. Redliner. I drive like grandma on the streets. I only beat on my vehicles at the Track. :rofl: The X5 isn't one of those vehicles.

ZF...X5 tranny oil..... Color of oil last change.. (look at the drops) Oil replaced with Castrol multi import oil.
