x5 lemans e53 interior door lever guidance light replacement

Lemans Sport Edition 3.0d

Hi Guys,

This is my first time posting on Xoutpost.com...

Does anyone know how to replace the bulb on the internal door lever (where you pull the handle) it has a guidence light that only switches on when the head lights are switched on.

All the other doors are highlighted with the display ok but not the drivers side.
a. does the door panel need to be removed and than the bulb can be accessed
b. can you use some sort of special tool and change it with out removing the panel
OR
c. Is there no bulb and needs to go to specialist to sort it

You need to remove the door panel....it clips into a clear receptacle. There's tons of info on how to remove the panel kicking around. BSW even has some video guides on the tube.

As for the bulb itself....I think it's part of the upper door harness, I'm not sure that it can be changed separately.

Thank you for your reply... sounds like it's not replacable easily if its going to be part of the harness, perhaps I would not know for sure until I open the trim and door panel.

i thought it was an LED... could be an integral part of this part number - 51417122199

The bulb (led actually) sits in a black "holder" which has ears on it that clip into the clear receptacle on the door pull. It will all make sense when you pull it apart. Be careful not to pull the door panel to far before disconnecting the light, because they are very easily broken!

All that info is also in bsw's walk through on how to remove the door panel as well.

Edit: T, to my knoledge thAt is just the door pull (the light doesn't come with it)....or at least it didn't when I replaced a pull many many moons ago.
