I don't recall saying the tranny is more durable with greater torque applied, I acknowledged the added torque was stressing the tranny more. I did say it is the original tranny and is still together. There was no explosion the first time I fired the nitrous and still has not been. Nor do I claim I am in any way a superior user of the X5 transmission or anything else ( I took that as sarcastic rather than a potential compliment). It is correct that the 'unbelievable' torque is coming on very early rather than at the top of the RPMs and I never have it off the map.

I didn't expect anyone would believe me and I will be surprised if there aren't more skeptics. I asked for input on the forum prior to install. The input was that I was nuts, if I wanted a race car buy one or I would immediately destroy the X engine or transmission--if it were a BB gun I would shoot my eye out. That's why I haven't mentioned the results a long time ago. I am nuts to mention them now. I believe everything said about "from a guy involved in the X5 Lemans project". That Debbie Downer input would have been helpful as well.

It won't help to post the graphs as the next discussion will be either the multiplier used to get from wheels to crank numbers are realistic, the accuracy of the dyno or if the graphs are real. Posts that are not the norm are very seldom challenged and responses to questions are very seldom preceded by that persons credentials. I fully realize not posting the graphs will cause more skepticism. In my opinion they will be of no useful purpose and I couldn't less about the skepticism.

FYI--I was just kidding, no, I made up everything I wrote--flat out lying. I took everyone's right on advice and didn't install the nitrous or do any other modification. I don't even own an X5.

No one called you a liar... I thought we were having a relatively open-minded discussion. I'd love to see the graph, but if you don't want to post it, no worries.

Fwiw, Dinan 4.6iS S3 is rated at 451bhp, and on mustang dyno, resulted in 355awhp. (I'd much rather have a DynoJet reading, however.) DTL can be complicated, so I generally don't think in terms of bhp.

Don't mistake my curiosity for skepticism man. :)

I should have been more specific JB. We had an off line discussion and you were very helpful. Your post was straight forward and I accept it as curiosity. I apologize for including you in my rant.

My post was partly because of the responses I got when I asked for input prior to the mod. To me it was here we go again. And I read similar responses many times with other threads where an OP asks a question and most of the responses don't answer the question or throw water on it. Not including JB in that either.

If you state something what could casue dome further questions - and your statement is obviuosly one of them - you should response with much more info than you've given and not just saying "I don't care if you don't believe, but it is so",- it's a technical froum and some people are even more than just curious.

I know a bit about durability of E53 tranny and I'm telling you responsively there's no physical way it can handle 675 lb ft of torque - and the gearbox isn't the weakes link for sure! Not to mention the torque number is to high for 150 nitrous shot on 4.6 L engine.

There's nothing wrong with my sarcasm as far it is obvious to you.

I got your point the first time-- you are a non-believer and you intend to stay that way, that says to me your position is---it can't be so, so it isn't--and by the way the earth is flat.

There is no quote "I don't care if you don't believe, but it is so". I didn't even defend my post about performance, I denounced it. There is no need to further defend your position, you questioned my integrity---slap me, I slap back.

That said, I respect your right to have an opinion, it is only that, regardless of your experience with X running gear or with a 4.6 on nitrous. If you would like me to pull my posts I will do so.

Speaking of which....if I remember correctly ya'll were cookin something up! Any updates on the s85 into E53?

Sorry for my late response but, again, I thank you all for your input. What I really don't need is people disregarding other people's claims because what I do need is more info on what others on this site have done along with their successes and failures so anyone reading this thread can learn something. Think of this thread as a positive think tank of people with ideas on what will work by covering all of the possible problems. Maybe NOS is the way to go, it's an option for more power. I might dump the front drive axels all together as an option also.

bcredliner 06-24-2013 11:44 PM

It would help if you offered a budget range as well as performance expectations.

After talking it over with my buddy, for the money, I think going the supercharger route will be good gains for $$ spent. Afterwards, I can always add an intercooler and a smaller pulley with upgraded software if it gets boring but we'll keep researching. Thanks for all your help gang

Good deal man. You'll enjoy it.
