X5 E53 passenger seat belt no warning

I have a problem with seat belt warning. It is not giving any warning chime or warning light when seat belt is not buckled up.

I checked fuses under glove box and in trunk. They are all okay.

Any experiences?

I believe the 1999 - 2004 models only show a seat belt light. I can confirm at 2001 only shows a light that is next to the airbag light on the display below Water Temperature. No audible noise after starting up vehicle.

hmm... I too don't remember warning sound. But it used to show the warning light ..on right side. When I start the car it is showing this seat belt light for a minute and then it goes off, even if the seat belt is not buckled.

What I worried is, if this is connected to airbag activation. Any idea?

i thought that the warning is set up in the programming of the car - you can program the gong ON or OFF, the warning text on the dash ON or OFF, as well as the little icon...

the programming does not change all of by itself - there should be an event, like someone actively changes the values (i did on mine), or the car went to dealership and the dealer's computer reset everything to factory values (factory values differ from country to country, so what is norm in the US could be optional in EU).

have you just noticed the change or it was like this all the times?

there is a way to turn off the gongs and warnings, but I didnt think the light.

I assume the e53 uses a seat occupancy sensor for the airbag system. those seem to go bad from time to time on other models. Would be a good place to start.

my mid ii also gone after jump start even though radio/cd sound is fine.

Seems like I have to take it to dealer for error code scanning.

Today I took car to a local garage. They scanned computer for error codes and found nothing wrong with ABS, airbags. They confirmed car is safe to drive. I mean passenger airbag is functioning.

It used to display warning text on on dash/odometer. It seems somehow this gets reset/turned off. Any idea how can I program this back.

I did jump started car twice and battery was totally drained. This might have caused the reset.

Local garage guy, computer is not that power full of that as BMW. He advise me to take it to BMW dealer if I still have questions

there is no gongs or sounds. and its only for the drivers side, you can code the fasten seat belt message not to display but you can not program the light to not be illuminate, i tried everything and its not possible because if you do anything than you have a srs air bag light going on because it affects the safety of the car.
