Meaning of options?

I searched (all over the web) and could not find a definitive explination on these options my VIN shows.

Some places it says this means 150 limiter, some no limiter.

S840A HOCHGESCHWINDIGKEITSABSTIMMUNG High speed synchronisation

And what does sports package actually change?

P330A SPORTPAKET Sports package

Is this referring to a change in the way the computer controls suspension behavior?

S226A SPORTLICHE FAHRWERKSABSTIMMUNG Sports suspension settings

Thanks

Welcome

Under "how to's" at the top of the page you will find a section on how to determine what options your X5 has. Explains in basic terms what each package has.
I believe the 2 S's are related to the sports package. Haven't found any definitive answer to the S840A question but seems like it is related to an oil cooler.

Thanks!

One of the challenges in helping you is that you list your location as Earth. Well, we figured that part out. But options and option packages are specific to where your vehicle was originally sold. As an example, the cold weather package is different in the US and Canada. Sports packages are different. Basic vehicle consist is different.

If you don't provide location info, then you won't get much help.

I was not trying to offend.

I am and the car was originally sold in Phoenix, Az, U.S.

Arizona??? is roswell in Arizona??? I highly doubt that the person asking these questions is an earthling... I supect, that he is from another planet and he is trying to figure out if he has a speed limit on reaching the MACH18 speed... I think the speed synchronisation is limited only to MACH5... you need an M version if you really want to go home!!!!!

lol... just kidding...

Roswell is in New Mexico.

I have never gone above Mach .5.

I looked through all of the option thread and found all but the high speed sync and these:

These are on both sides in front of the rear doors.

They open.

TerminatorX5 06-28-2013 10:19 PM

they are for the plutonium rods... errr..

i mean, the cloth rods, to hang on your shirts and suits and skirts and blouses... depending on what you wear...

e30cabrio 06-28-2013 10:22 PM

That was my guess. The rods (if still here) are under the floor in back?

not that i know of... they should be available in the Lifestyle catalogue of BMW, along with the coat rack for the headrest, umbrellas, coffee cups and the rest... i think, those items start with Group 82 in the parts catalogue

e30cabrio 06-28-2013 10:32 PM

I looked, not there. I also found I have a 17" spare different from the 19" sport rims on the car.

Thanks

jcp240z 06-29-2013 01:19 AM

17" spare is correct. Only the 4.6is and 4.8is had the 19" spare due to the large brakes. Your 17" will be the same circumference as your 19". The pockets in the roof are also for the optional net divider. (Trunk room net 51477126507 )

e30cabrio 06-29-2013 06:09 AM

I was surprised the spare was not the same as the rest of the rims.

Thanks

:iagree:

Ditto...that was the first thing I thought..but probably more so from my e39 Touring where the "net" divider was built into the same "cassette" as the cargo cover. This probably made it more obvious (to me) what the hook & covers were in the e53. They are #7 & #8 in the diagram below.

BTW...I use the "OH JEEZUS" handles for hanging my dry cleaning on...for some reason I feel they can handle the weight better...and I'm never comfortable with trying to get the tip of the hanger up into the hook for the separation net. ;)

Sadly, BMW did NOT carry over this same design to the e53. The e39 not only had the net/divider built into the same cassette as the cargo cover...they also designed holders on the front side of the lower rear seats to store the cassette if you need to remove it to carry something...as well as the location to use the net/divider in the forward position.

On the e53...if you're out and about and find yourself needing to move the cargo liner to load something...you don't have a really good place to store/place the cargo cover...in the e39, you could slip it into the holder in front of the rear seats...I really miss this option. :(

:) better design...in the e39? :)

That is really clever. Makes no sense they did not offer i in the e53.

Thanks for that info.

Can anyone offer input to the high speed mystery?

On the newer(e90/F30) 3 series forums...it seems to be the option for increased speed limiter (155 MPH instead of the usual 130 MPH). I don't know for sure though if this applies to the e53. :dunno:

Thanks, I'll never find out as the fastest I have ever gone is 130 in my e30 and that was too fast.
