Black wheel arch trim revived (and the finish results will last)

If like mine your arch trim has turned more grey and patchy then this is a trick you should try.

I had tried all the chemicals you can buy to make them look like new but they never last and basically just mask the damage where as this corrects it.

how they looked before:

and after (like they did out the factory):

This result was done with the use of a hot air gun and works because the plastic trim is coloured with a colour pigment through out the plastic and over time the UV effect on the surface fades the pigment and by heating it up causes the pigment to rejuvenate on the surface and restoring the factory look and the effects last at least as long as they did before and longer if measures are taken to protect it.

Here's a vid showing it working right before your eyes:

While browsing ,I saw similar process before ,on youtube, but just thought it was "another silly youtube video" ,cause the proper way to do is to spray over fading plastic ,copying the textured effect with control over spray gun. Now,I am curious,if this heating process really works, going to try it on some old plastic I may have. Thanks for sharing :)

Definitely impressed! How/where did you come up with this method?

Pretty amazing. I wonder if it would work on the roof rack. I used 303 but need to reapply after washing.

I think the roof rails were anodized from the factory. So, no.

i have read before this process is a momentary fix, when the fading comes back is worse.

I was told about this trick by a chap in our spray shop at work, he did it last year to his whole Black plastic bumpers on his Landrover Freelander and they still nice and black 12 months on so a momentary fix I don't think it is,

but I'll keep you posted, still looked great today after washing the car.
