Rear a/c not working

My rear a/c stopped working. Any ideas how to make it work again.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

did u check the fuses ?

technobuff 07-15-2013 11:43 PM

Yes, I did and all fuses are good.

Zulu95 07-16-2013 12:04 AM

Rear FSU, blower switch or blower motor providing power is getting to the switch.

TerminatorX5 07-16-2013 12:27 AM

fuses
F64
F48
F34
F3

they all are good, right?

technobuff 07-16-2013 11:00 PM

Terminator X5,

The fuses are all good.

Zulu95,

If the rear blower or FSU is the culprit, how can I gain access to the blower & FSU in the rear middle console, please advise.

Thanks again for your swift response.

since the fuses are good, the next step is naturally, the FSR... then, the motor... you are on the correct path... I am trying to see if there are any internal conditions that preclude the rear blower stops working, but so far i did not find anything...

could be something trivial like a pinched or broken wire to a switch or to motor... was there any spill in the central console? any coffee, coke? coke can be very corrosive...

Zulu95 & Terminator X5,

Thanks for the swift responses.

I do not see signs of any spillage on the center console.

Would a faulty FSR stop the blower from working?

Thanks again for your assistance.

FSR is the motor control so it is possible a faulty FSR would stop the motor. Until tested EVERYTHING in the circuit is suspect.

I've been following this thread sonce I'm having the same problem on '04 X5 and checked everything posted here and still no luck. Thing is I can hear the fan blowing and there is condensation on the rear of the center console which leads me to believe its functional but seems the vents might be clogged or shut somehow. How hard is it to remove the storage unit above the vent? Would it be better work from the rear by the cup holders? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for the thread jack.

Ditto. Can feel cold air in the console but not the vents

bcredliner 07-20-2013 06:44 PM

For those that can hear the fan and can tell it is cold---The tubes that you see in the second RealOEM link don't really lock together. I don't see how they could come apart when it is assembled but I do know I have to be careful when putting console back together or they fall apart. You don't have to remove the entire rear console to eliminate that as a potential cause.

Terminator X5 and Zulu 95,

Thanks for the response.

Is the rear a/c blower behind the console? How laborious is it to gain access to it?

I am told by a BMW mechanic that it takes about 3 hours to pull the rear console out.

Please advise.
