resetting air bag light tool

I have a 2000 X5 and a 1999 Z 3.. is there one air bag rest tool other than laptop that's affordable and does both ?

Peake airbag re-set tool.

Ya looked at that one , just says what years it resets not what models. Then others spell out what model and i dont see one that covers E53 and E36..

why not consider software and a cable? of course, if the laptop is already there... otherwise, it may become costly...

'Hey if you can afford to drive a BM TRouble U you can afford a laptop. Just brought a new/used laptop on eBay with a CORE i3 processor and a 500 GB hardrive with Windows 8 for $200.00 plus 14 bucks for shipping.

I use an old Sony Pentium 3 laptop with Carsoft 6.5 because that laptop still have a real serial port. If you're going to DIY you need to get a laptop or at least a ELM bluetooth module and a smartphone.

software can reset the airbag codes and more: you can monitor performance of the engine, if you are having problems, you can activate/deactivate features that are otherwise dormant... many different uses... about $40-50 with the cable...

thanks I will consider, I have already ordered a Peake 20 pin code reader, and a SRS air bag reset tool for the Z3 and a reset tool for engine oil service reset. Guess I will continue to add as needed. thanks

I need to replace my dash cluster.. diaodes burned out on display. Will the lap top allow me to reset the codes to the new cluster, with out taking to dealer ?

the SW package can substitute all of the above... for the Z3 you will need a 20-pin round adapter, and it can be used for the X5 too - earlier models had round port in the engine bay, later models got away with the round port, and the functions were routed to the OBDII port next to driver's left knee...
