Wow Qsilver, very informative as always.
So I guess since I have a 3.0, 2-axle SLS (S221A) AND Sport Package (S226A) must make my X a very rare one, right?
I was always under the impression that the front air struts are the same part number for all models that have 2 axle SLS? Since if you go on Arnott's website, there is only one replacement front air spring/strut (not to be confused with the complete replacement struts they sells vs. the front air springs that you put on your existing struts), so I figured that whether I had my X, or a 4.8is, replacement air struts are the same for all models with 2-axle SLS.

The really good thing about Arnett's website is...they list the BMW part nbr which helps when you know which BMW part nbr you need.
I don't know the numbers of 3.0 & 4.4 X5s built before 10/2003 that came with both the 2-axle SLS & sport pkg...so I can't attest to the "rarity" that your X may or may not be. :)
But with having both pkgs (S221A & S226A) on your 3.0 pre-10/2003 build date...it does mean that you use the same front air springs as the 4.8is, 4.4, & 3.0 that were built AFTER 10/2003 that have the EHC II option.
It's just the 3.0 & 4.4 ( non sport) w/EHC II only (built BEFORE 10/2003) that have the different BMW front air spring part nbrs than all the other models. Their 11 digit BMW part nbrs are:
- 37 11 6 757 501/502 (left/right)
