Part number for front left axle
I own an 06 X5 4.4i.
My indy found that the boot is torn, and it'd be cheaper to replace the axle, instead of just changing parts. He quoted an OEM for about $600, or no-name for about $200. Any one knows the part number for the front left axle, that includes everything, boot, wheel bearings, etc.? |
Is this what you're looking for? If yes, copy and paste the BMW 11 digit part nbr into a google search box (BMW xx xx x xxx xxx) and see how many results you get as far as vendors selling the part:

Thanks for the info. I'll print it and find out if this is the only thing that's needed.
I don't think that it is all, 'cause I remember him saying something about the wheel bearing. I don't see that the axle has it, unless I'm really going blind! |
The link above the diagram is "live"...in that if you click it, you'll go directly to the diagram and part nbr index. At the top of that page...you'll see the "links" that got me to that diagram...if you go back one link, you can select other diagrams...for the front axle...actually everything on the vehicle if you go back far enough.
For example, this is one link back to the main group/subgroup for the 4.4...scroll down to the last diagram (for wheel bearing kit) and click on it...and that diagram will explode into a larger view along with the part nbr index for everything in that diagram: RealOEM.com * Diagram Selection |
wheel bearing is separate from the axle assembly.
If yours isn't making noises, don't touch them. The axle assembly can be had in aftermarket brands for about 50-70 bucks per side. I'd have him do both just in case the other boot is torn too at that price. Search for Cardone Select (new aftermarket), A1 Cardone (remanufactured aftermarket), or FEQ brand aftermarket axles. All of those should be under 100 apiece. If your indy is recommending a replacement for about 200 bucks, please go with a bulletproof axle from Raxles (Raxles, America's premier supplier of OE quality CV Axles and CV joints - Raxles Inc.) They take OE cores and use all new inner and outer joints, boots and grease with the highest quality materials. Those will run you $250 per side. Good luck. |
