Help Me! Led Tail Light

Hi! everyone

Please help me. I was really hard during past few weeks.

My e53 X5 is 2005 sports version. This car was produced after 2005, has different tail light harness line from before 2003. The e53 X5 was produced before 2003 has 4 harness line but my X5 has 5 harness line.

Anyway I installed led tail light(made by eagle eye. this product is similar with early version of sonar led tail light) on my X5. The turn signal and brake light are OK but flicker occur on running light continuously and warning message appear(check rear light). I looked around almost led taillight problem thread and found several solution. Of course I installed capacitor, resistor on tail light harness line already but flicker still remain.

The running light is so bright when I installed 50V 6800uF on tail light + - line but waning message and flicker still remain finely. And waning massage disappear when I install 10w 14ohm resistor on tail light + - line but flicker still remain. How can I fix this problem? If I buy latest led tail light, these problem could be solved?

Please help me everyone.

the lights are flickering due to several things, one of them being cold and hot monitoring of the circuit and also that your brake lights are equipped with Brake Force Distribution system, which increases the brightness of the brake lights in case of HARD braking.

you need to disable those lines inside the LCM module, which requires NCS Expert programming. Not sure if your local dealer will assist you in this. Try to locate more information on the NCS Expert programming, once you learn more and still have questions, come back...

the capacitors and resistors should have reduced your flickering, and eliminate the warning message... did you try other values for a resistor and capacitor?

Thanks so much for rapid reply TerminatorX5. OK I will check LCM module but I don't know my local dealer(I live in South KOREA now.) can programming, maybe not. Yes I installed various values cap and resistor but flicker still remain. This flicker is not cold monitoring. The flicker is worse when I on head light, front fog lamp and sometimes flicker is weakened. I made other ground line(2 gauge thick line) from main frame chassis and connected, I did everything that I can. It is not possible to surmise in a word. Going crazy really.

You just need two capacitors(4700uf) one for each side and solder it in ground and positive line from the LEDs lights housing , that will fix your problem.( no flickering no erro)

My local dealer said that my led tail light is made by eagle eye company(Taiwan company) and suitable with e53 X5 2001-2006.
But my led tail light is different from eBay and this forum. The harness line is different. The left picture is my led tail light style, right picture is eBay.

If you look closely, you'll see that my led tail light and selling led tail light on eBay are different from each other. Anyone install eBay style led tail light on after 2005 e53 X5?

Thanks so much mrbmwx5.

OK I see but my led tail light has three positive line(turn signal, running light, brake light) and one ground. Please see attach picture. Which positive line? My led tail light different from recent SONAR product. If you have used this product please tell me the solution.

What voltage? 16V or 50V doesn't matter? And don't need to install resistor? Please let me know detail information.

No resistor need . Just the capacitors and solder the positive of capacitor to the green wire and the negative of capacitor to the black wire.
If your new light came with all green wire then you need to find out witch wire is the parking light and tap it there.
Btw way sonar or eagle eye comp they all the same ..

Thanks again.

Ok I see, I will do that and post the result. I downloaded NCS expert at yesterday. I will try use NCS also. Truly speaking I don't know well how to use this program. If I meet some codeing problem could you please advice to me? Anyway thanks again.^^
