Easiest way is with a set of lowering springs. Little bit of know-how and a spring compressor is about the only special tools needed.

it's best to change? shocks and springs or just springs.

To answer that accurately you have to take into account a couple things.....

How much are you looking to spend? how many miles on the current dampers? What are you willing to sacrifice in terms of height vs ride quality....there's a ton of info regarding the different lowering spring sets available.

IMO if you have anywhere in the neighborhood of 80-100k on the X then you might as well do dampers and springs.

There's also a ton of info floating around in terms of the effects of the various spring & damper combos and what they do in terms of ride.

If his X has air suspension, he can use lowering links (about $100) or just use GT1/DIS to fool the computer to lower it as I did.
If not, lower springs and shocks.

What year and engine is your X?

What is your current suspension and how long has it been in place?

Do you want to improve handling or just lower it?

What is your budget?
