Computer switch says PROG
Hi,
I've only owned my X5 for 3 weeks so im still learning, im trying to get my average fuel consumption up on the dash, I can toggle through the different displays but I can't seem to clear whats there, i.e when I press and hold in the switch it just says PROG? What am I doing wrong or is it kaput? I know thw stereo also displays this info but my pixels are shot. Car is a 2002 3.0i, no DSP. Standard stereo 6 speakers. Cheers |
If you have the high instrument cluster (it has the 20 digit alpha/numeric display)...the OBC is controlled by either the MID or the nav monitor. The BC button on the tip of the turn indicator only pulls up the OBC features that have been programmed into it. That display (on the cluster) has first priority to the Check Control system...the ability to program the OBC features there is a secondary benefit. That is why any OBC feature displayed on the cluster is removed when there's a message from the check control display.
Again, the OBC is controlled by the MID or the Nav...that is where you start/stop/set/reset/clear any of the OBC's features. If you don't have owners manuals...let us know, there are plenty of the supplemental manuals for the MID or Nav monitor that you can download in PDF format...which will give you a better understanding of how to operate these components in your vehicle. |
Thanks Qsilver7,
I can't see the pixels on the MID so I can't reset anythig at this stage - hopefully when I install the dynavin unit ill be able to reset everything! Thanks for the info. |
You can still reset the CONS1 even if you don't have any pixels. Just look at the image below and you can see what should be in the display.
If you press the BC button on the MID...hopefully you should get the first screen of the OBC...press the soft button below the CONSUMPTION you want to reset...then press the SET button (which is the one on the far right). If you have it pulled up on the instrument cluster too...you'll see it change from what ever it is to "0": http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0035_large.jpg |
Excellent! Now that I know where to look I should be able to set it - thanks for this, much appreciated!

Great, all working!
I got 9.5L per 100L on the way home which is 28mpg, does that sound about right for a 3.0 on the motorway?... |
Happy I could assist.

Stevo, when you remove the MID adn cd player to install the Dynavin unit, you'll loose all those features built into your stalk, if I'm not mistaken.

Really? I'm sure I read that no functionality would be lost with the new units? Could anyone confirm?
