I looked at the title with a magnifying glass and noticed that there used to be a 1 in front of that 60,327. Meaning the title is legit and the truck should've had 160,327 which makes sense since the last reported was 157 in 12/2012. Its hugely illegal to be messing with titles right? I spoke to the guy and explained my findings and he came back telling me that he never checks carfaxes so he didn't know but was willing to give me my money back. That is a relief but now that I think about it, most 01-03 X5s with 160k miles are still being sold for $6,500-$8,500. Still I think im better off saying goodbye to it and continuing my search.

Probably a better idea to increase my budget and find a better one. I really loved the power...also thanks to you guys I now know what to look for.

THROW IT BACK AT HIM!!! Dont even think about keeping it. Whatever you think you are going to save,,, youre going to be throwing the savings back into the car times 10. Pack it up, give it back, get your money and cont. to look.

And yes, HIGHLY illegal to "Wash" a title .

sandplasma 08-15-2013 12:55 PM

Definitely will send it back, thanks a lot everyone.

Yes if he will take the car back and give your money back I would get it back. Frauded titles are illegal obviously, good luck on the search! And yes increase your budget, hell for 9-10k you could have Cisc0's 3.0 I think! (and his is gorgeous!)

Never checks Carfax...my ass!

So I think you decided to move on but this is a no brainer...so someone attempted to defraud you on the title, states in the Bill of Sale cars has 11X,000 miles and then claims he doesnt check carfax? I wouldnt walk I'd RUN. Make sure he is not saying he'll just take car back make sure every penny you have spent is also returned. I give him credit though IF he will erase this deal for you!
