Issue with Transfer case
About a month or so ago, I got the trifecta lights on my dashboard. According to the Greek BMW dealer, the actuator needed to be replaced, but I instead follow the SlickGT1 method of turning the gear 180 degrees and called it a day.
Following that, we took a 3000 km trip and everything was OK. Last week I got the X5 to a local shop (I am now in Ukraine) to have some work done, and he mentioned something about an error code, on the TC. However, no lights on the dashboard, so I went in with INPA and the error is shown in the attached picture. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...g?t=1376802839 I then went under the car to make sure all wire connections are OK, and what I noticed is that the resistor wire was a little too easy to remove from the resistor and was not secured in any way. Upon closer examination, it looks like this is not a connector per se, but the rubber boot has stripped from the resistor. As if someone tried to remove that connector from the resistor and separate what was before a solid connector in two parts. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...-08-18_005.jpg I was wondering if the fact that those two contacts being loose is the source of the error shown above? If that is the problem, can I just install a new resistor? How does the resistor wires connect to the main wire going to the actuator motor? Thanks for your help guys! |
