Cops SEE what red rerformance vehicles do, fail to use a turn indicator, slight roll thru a stop sign on empty road late at night, slight direction change in your lane on a highway and you get lit up. |
Congrats on the new purchase! Can't go wrong with black!

My experience mirrors Tiags. 3 speeding tickets in 3 years in my Hellrot red M3. Yet to be pulled over in my silver X. But I have started to slow down in my old age. :dunno: |
Nice X. Excellent purchase choice!
Never had a red vehicle (almost did several times) even when I thought that was the best it came in--for the reasons mentioned. I have wondered if that holds true of a red X as it is not known as a high performance vehicle, not a two seater, not a classic hot rod etc. |

I've had several red sports cars following me at 10 mph over posted speed limit on the hwy, cops have lit THEM up and let me go on my way. If I was in a red IS or lowered with loud exhaust, bet I would have been stopped too. |
I have an IS, is lowered and has loud exhaust--have never noticed a second look. I have been speeding, less then 10 over, and gone through radar trap and not been nabbed. I will say the few times I have stopped I got a ticket. It could have been profiling but it was more than 10 over. I don't have a radar detector.

This got so bad a few yrs back we started having owner get togethers in Orlando (usually Race Rock on International) or Lakeland. We started going out there because you could chirp 2nd without getting your car searched and a ticket in your hand. Even had a dinner get together at the Outback in Lakeland where the local PD sent 2 patrol cars out to stop traffic so the 50+ Vipers could leave in a group and not have gawkers crashing due to the site of that many Vipers in one place. The cops made it clear that they see NOTHING as we leave the parking area and proceed down the 6 lane road, this was shortly followed by most of the Viper doing 2nd and 3rd gear powerslides out of the lot and down the road. Cops don't always have to be hard-ons but some areas make it SOP. Even had the Clearwater PD attempt to tow my Viper because the 5 point harnesses are not DOT approved and therefore it's not street legal. Had to get the shift supervisor on scene and talk them out of it. |
