Quick non-dsp amp question
 

I have a 2005 4.4 with the non-dsp amp. No sound right now, but power to the navigation system. I was curious if there is a fuse on these amps? I was going to pull everything out and look for corrosion on the wires, but wanted a little gleam of hope in finding a blown fuse.

power to nav - so, you have the nav screen working.

is there power to the radio? is the little orange LED indicator next to left knob coming on? if the indicator is coming on, can you engage radio? or the CD changer, if you have one? when you tell navigation to direct you somewhere, can you hear navigation voice? If there is no little orange light next to the knob after you tried to turn the radio on/off, have you checked ALL fuses, both in the glove compartment and the rear hatch?

CD changer has power, Bluetooth is working, NAV works, Radio power comes on and will tune and show radio station. Just no sound from any source.

need to check the fuses - i am at work and can't look up the WDS wiring diagrams... if you are good with those, you can look them up yourself, look for supply for amp, it will show which fuse is feeding the amp... unless somebody else will post the info meanwhile, i can only look it up once at home, which will be very late today...

ther is also a separate, 10A fuse in the radio harness itself that might be of interest, as that fuse is not lined up with the other fuses, and is not easily accessible...

was there any recent work done in the trunk? battery change? water in the side pockets?

Just picked up the car yesterday and it sat for a while with no battery in the trunk. The trunk and side pockets look prestine, with no apparent water damage.

ok... so, i can only assume that you are not that familiar with the X... there are two main locations for the fuses, one is in the glove compartment, once you open it, there is a smaller cover inside the glove cavity, on the "ceiling", along with the legend...

the other location is in the rear of the car, in the side pocket on the right - the fuses are easily visible, easily accessible, legend would be on the side door or on the fuse carrier...

check for all the fuses there, and see if any are burnt - when a battery is installed/reinstalled, a surge in current can kill a fuse...

hopefully, it is just a fuse...

there other fuses in the car scattered around, the E-box, the main fuses next to spare tire, some modules have their own fuses, like the radio module does...

do yo have a multimeter? it is best to check a fuse using one of those multimeters...

This is actually my second X5.. Had a 2001 before. It had a fuse blow on the amp one day, but was easy to fix. I have already checked all of the fuses. #7 in the glove box as well as the two on the right side of the trunk. I have NOT checked any of the loose ones that are in line.

Terminator.. I think its the amp. Did a voltage check on the green/brown wire going into the amp and I am showing 12 volts. So Either the amp is not getting a signal from the radio, or its dead.
