Trying to install the BMW software for coding etc,.
so i got the software from the romanian guy. I don't know if my dvds are no good, but i cant get this thing to install or copy to my computer.
i put disk 1 in after god he knows how long, it says i can now put disk 2 in. i put disk 2 in for god he knows how long, then it says its time to unzip. i click unzip file and it says the files from disk 1 is missing so i should put disk 1 in......this is using the AUTOMATIC way.(if you have these same dvd u will know what i mean) Now the manual way says i should copy the file to the partition with more space. i put disk 1 in trying to copy it to my C drive and once it reaches 3/4 of the way, it starts to act funny. It would say i have 5 minutes left, then it starts saying i have 15 minutes, 20, 10...it fluctuates. lol The guy said I could contact him and he can help me remotely....i guess he will connect to my computer and do the steps remotely. any tips guys? im thinking if i cant get this step, why should i even bother with messing around with settings on the truck if i do get it to run properly. |
I could have extended the Dallas Tollway a mile by time I got the software to load.
I kept trying by following the putting in disc 1 until it asked for disc two. Once it downloads properly you will have a folder on that drive that is titled something like Romanian diagnostic. Open the file and use BMW emblem that is zips the file. Use the other BMW buttons to install and execute. Hope this makes it a breeze. When you re-insert disc on you have to wait a long time before it will give you further instructions. I think this was the success process but I tried so many times I am not sure. |

i didnt fully understood what you said though, |
Side question, What Windows are you using? XP or 7??

I have xp also.
First thing I did to get it to work was uninstall everything I had done. Next I loaded disc one and waited until it said load disc 2 I left disc 2 in the drive until I got the next instruction I think the instruction was put disc 1 in again but it gets hazy from there I do know that it was necessary to leave disc 1 in a long time the second time before I got the next instruction Once it was installed correctly the instruction sent me to the folder titled diagnostics In that folder were 3 blue BMW icons First click on the unzip file Then the install file Finally open the exe file to start the program This might be wrong but I am not going to do it again to make sure. I would rather do the tollway thing. |
I never had this CD or had to install it, but usually when i run into any problems like this i Like to disregard the Autorun sequence. I just right click open file and unzip everything manually using WinRAR or something

Are you using the default drive and folder for disc 1, or did you install it on another drive or in another folder?

I also tried copying to my C drive ..according to the seller. None of them is work straight fwd |
If you guys are looking to setup your computer for coding then I can help you out remotely.
My setup works on any windows platform as long as you have a working cable. |
I had to connect the cord to USB port and get comp to recognize it before installing any disc. Is that what you did? I will install it again shortly and provide step by step what I have to do

I guess I'm the only one that had an extremely easy install with the Romanian software.
But I started from a fresh load of windows XP, on a laptop that is wiped clean (not sure if you are doing the same or not) I did not have any unzipping software, just what he puts on his dvd's. I right clicked on the file on disc 1, selected copy, and pasted into the C drive. Then once I started the automatic installer after copying the 2nd file, it was all self explanatory from there. You know the Romanian guy will remote to your computer if you are having troubles installing, right? If he designed it i'm sure he would know how to help, just send him a message on ebay. Also, once you start installing the software after copying the files to the drive, you need a HW ID and key or passcode from him, which he sends to you via Ebay as well. Sorry I can't be of much help but I literally followed the instructions to a T, using the automatic installer, and installed all the programs and got them running with no issues. But again, my laptop was clean windows install, hard drive was completely wiped, installed on a "fresh slate" if you will. Make sure windows firewall is turned off as well, it causes all sorts of issues. I would also turn off the Wi-Fi (you don't need it when installing), if there is a million programs running and sending data I would imagine it would bog down the install. |
I will try to have him remote my comp to help me out.
|
I used a clean laptop also and loaded the program on a new external drive. When I had trouble the seller seller sent me instructions that helped some but I had to do hours of trial and error to get it installed.
When I try some to read some of the diagnostics I get pop up messages that I have to click through until they go away before that screen will come up. It also blinks on the home page. It offers 2 N62 choices and I don't know which one I have. I have tried both and it looks like info is the same but I am not sure. as an example of seeing information and not knowing what it means on the rough page are the cylinders supposed to be a zero or--- |

It's a used laptop i purchased off ebay, but its clean. It doesnt appear to have anything installed on it but the normal software. |
Is the a list of within specified range the engine readouts should be somewhere?
What should the cylinder by cylinder rough scale +- range be? |
resolution....I contacted the seller and he sent me the file to download. Downloaded the file using utorrent and now i have the program on my laptop

where would one look to find this Romanian fella peddling his wares?

See the following:
BMW USB OBD Diagnostic Cable Inpa Ediabas Dis SSS GT1 | eBay Be sure to read the requirements of the laptop you will need. |
order up! thank you so much.
laptop requirements are pretty straightforward other than the THIRTY FOUR gigabyte requirement for the hard drive space. I guess I'll just load it up on my TunerStudio machine. 34GB! that's WAY larger than the entire Adobe Creative Suite. question, is there a learning curve with the software. i am a computer guy so i can figure most things out but I've installed TIS on my computer before and found it 'less than intuitive'. |
AFAIK, SSSProgman is the one program that really eats up the space. You should be alright if you install everything but SSS.
There is a slight learning curve but I don't think its anything too tough once you start playing around with it, DIS is pretty straightforward. If you got it running and are having problems with any of the programs let me know I can try to help, or post up here. |
excellent. thank you!

I had no instructions. I fired it up and found out how to see some things. I also inadvertently deleted the firmware on my nav so I don't recommend that approach.
I am computer literate to the point it doesn't scare me to hit a button and see what happens as I can usually figure it out, but am also an Apple fanatic. I was windows based for many years but have tried to forget as much of that knowledge as possible so that has hampered progress. There is a INPA BMW based forum that is helpful, even for the loading of the software. I have yet to ask questions as I am sure with the depth of the threads I have read what I need is somewhere there if I can figure out the right search words. This is the one I have been going: BMW forum. Diagnostics, coding, programming, repair BMW vehicles. - Powered by vBulletin The were lots of results from my Google search so I don't know if this is the recommended source for info though there is lots there. Be patient when loading the software. It took a long time for some parts of the load to initiate, enough that I thought it was not working and ejected the disc and started over. For some loading the software has been a breeze and obviously by all the load questions on the INPA forum it has been a bear for many others. |

Where do I find the proper diagnostic sequences to narrow down the source of the problem. As an example, if a cylinder is out of the rough acceptable range what is the next step to find out why? I wandered around in INPA looking for engine error codes. I think I found the location but how do I know for sure--there were no errors there so I don't know if I was in the wrong place or there were really no errors. Is there a using INPA for dummies somewhere? |

I will try that program.

Anyone have input to getting the green board cable to work? I have a white board cable that reads but won't clear codes so I got a green board & it is seen as a serial to USB device but won't do anything.
Also, Where do I get GT1? |
The following is a link to GT1 software that many of us have used:BMW USB OBD Diagnostic Cable Inpa Ediabas NCS Expert Dis V57 SSS V32 GT1 Progman | eBay
|
I have 3 cables one for (BMW scanner 1.40) and don't really want a fourth.
Thanks |

I appreciate the link. The standard ebay cables either have green or white circuit boards. The first one I got was white & I was able to get my WIN7 & XP machines to interact with my X but not erase codes. The new more expensive one that people have said works (bought form the link posted here) does not work at all.
Thanks |

Does your computer recognize the green one? Since you want GT1 and package from the link is not that expensive and many here have had success setting up and using that software, you may want to consider biting the bullet and purchase the whole package so you know you have what you need. There are also smart phone apps that are very useful as more portable diagnostic and monitoring tools. In retrospect, I should have purchased only the Rumanian package and the app for my iPhone/iPad. Other than a more involved set up procedure for the Rumanian software and a longer learning curve I would have all that I need for any scenario I can imagine. |
They both see it as a serial to USB device, same as the white boarded one.
I was able to reset my airbag, code my highs to be running lights, change when the doors lock etc with BMW Scan. I'd like to deactivate the multiple keys I don't have but BMW Scan does not show which is in the ignition, just that there are a slew active (I have 3). Thanks |
Hello folks!
My cable/software came in today from the ebay seller in Romania. I am about to install or rather copy the files from the DVD to my hard drive. I was planning on doing this in Windows XP Mode (Virtual Machine) inside Windows 7. The reason is because I was under the impression that NCS only works in XP. BUT both the system requirements AND the photos for the install show that Windows 7 will work. What do you guys recommend I do? If everything can work on Windows 7, it would be advantageous for me to use Windows 7 as I have more RAM dedicated to it as well as the simplicity of not having to install on a virtual machine. But if it works better on XP, then I will install on XP. Thanks, Andrew |
Romanian Diagnostic
I recently purchased the software and cable from the Romanian provider on Ebay.
Had "operator" problems installing on my computer. I contacted the seller and he provided some additional instructions, still didn't solve "operator "problem. I contacted him again and he spent three hours ( due to a slow connection ) via Teamview, software where he took over my computer and installed the system. I am using Windows XP Svc Pack 3. I used it first time yesterday it worked great. You can have engine running when you diagnose the car with Inpa or DIS but if you want to use either NcsExpert or SSS always keep Ignition on and a power charger. I found out the hard way. I can't say enough positive about this seller. He has a great product and wants it to work when you buy it. |
