hard to shift gear into Drive mode
 

Hello all,

I have a problem. My X5 3.0 with auto is very hard to shift the gear level into Drive mode. Used to be smooth since early this year I have to pull hard to shift the level into "Drive mode" otherwise level stays on "N mode". Do I need to adjust something or clean the contacts? How do I fix this? BTW colder weather in winter the problem is much worse I have to warm up the engine for long period of time to get into Drive mode.

im not sure if its the same as some other cars, but this could be the sensor that's in the break area, when u press on the break it sends a signal to the transmission for the shifter to release it from park then u can shift normally, it might be sending a weak signal and thus still releasing with force
