M62TU inline thermostat
I have a Range Rover, but I'd thought I'd throw this out here because it seems there's a lot of talk of lowering 4.4's engine temps in this forum. I've read the thread on electronically controlling max temp. Has anyone here just gutted the stock thermostat and added an inline thermostat like this? I'd probably just go with a regular 180 degree stat.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mez-wn0072 My main goal in lower temps is to increase transmission life, and life of plastic and rubber components in the system. I don't think the higher pressure associated with higher temps is a problem. If anyone thinks Evans NPG+ is a better solution, please don't chime in. I want to keep on topic. I just want lower temps for my transmission, and rubber/plastic parts. Also, please refrain from Range Rover negativity. I have many BMW's; and have been an owner, and club member, for years. I needed a full sized truck capable of off roading, and found the BMW engineered RR fit the bill. I used a Toyota Land Cruiser for this purpose for years, and still own it. |
