Newbie from Perth Western Australia
I always had BMW and owned Sedan E36, E46 & E90 and coupe E46 now I've recently purchase this Silver X5 E53 4.4 for $14k with 140,000km on the clock. Nice clean car with no accident damage although I find it quite thirty with fuel. I hope a tune up and service will help.
Any comments on what to look out for during ownership??;) |
welcome to the forum!!!

What are you getting L/100? I get 9.8 in my 3.0i....

Since there's two 4.4 engines...you might want to identify which one you have if you want to get specific suggestions/answers on what to look for...that way you won't have to deal with or get confused by info about the one you don't own. :)
Help us help you better by identifying the model/model year/build date in a permanent signature...or by adding it to your car info.

Update
The X5 I brought was build 2001 as for the fuel usage the onboard computor says 14.9 yet my calulation arte about 3 to 4 l/per Km.
As I said before I'm going to get the car service and tuned so I hope better fuel usage afterwards. Also the 6 xCD stacker will not eject to cartage , it work the 1st time I tried then the next day would not, any sugguestions?? |

Even at 3 to 4 km per litre your maths is still way off :P 14.9L per 100km sounds about right if you drive it like it begs to be driven - I have the 4.4 but the N62 engine (04 model) and when my wife drives it it's about 11L/100km but jumps to between 14-16L per 100km when I drive it. Get it serviced and that should reduce it a little but being a V8 the best way to get better mileage is to drive it like a granny otherwise just bend over and enjoy these ridiculous fuel prices we have here in Oz WELCOME :) |
