Bavarian Autosport Upgraded Headunit

I just saw this on their website:
Go to bavauto.com and search for MT-8865.

I am wondering if its similar to the Hualigan or Dynavin. Seems too good to be true for only $500. Can anyone confirm if this is a Dynavin or Hualingan or some ebay knockoff?

I also posted this in the mobile AV forum, but I don't think anyone checks that lol.

Looks decent, but IMO I'd rather have something that looks like it came stock in the car from the factory. You can tell this is aftermarket. To each his own, but I don't see why this wouldn't serve it's intended purpose.

Yeah, I agree it does look aftermarket, but that doesn't bother me. I just want something that will perform the same or better. Plus my stock NAV screen has a lot of missing pixels.

I just hope it's plug and play for me, I have NAV and NO-DSP.

This is what I have to deal with everyday. I could pay and replace screen or just upgrade to a new head unit. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/09/06/yhuze5er.jpg
I will contact bav auto and try to get more information about their product.

I have the same issue that just start recently on my iS. It's about 1/2" long right in the center of the screen.
I can't find the headunit on bavauto website. Maybe copy and paste a link?

I posted about this in the duplicate thread in the Mobile Electronics forum.

It looks to be an exact copy or an actual Hualingan unit, very well documented here. Personally, if I was going aftermarket I would install the Dynavin D99, MUCH closer looking to OEM unit, and pretty much same features/performance. Its more expensive (900) but looks so much better.

tmv, you have DSP on your iS don't you (I thought it was standard?) If so, just replace the screen on your OE nav unit, if you replace the head unit with non-OEM on DSP units you have to rewire the whole speaker system from what I've read.

Here is post #62 which shows you what nav screen you need for OEM navigation, under 200 bucks!

Yes I do have DSP. Replacing the screen is the way I would go with, unless I decide to upgrade the whole ICE system.

and I'm assuming you downloaded latest firmware for the 3D maps on the unit? Just replace the screen and be happy man, in my opinion the stock system may be old but OE integration wins every time :)
